How it is calculated
What is the E-7 salary requirement?
Korea sets a minimum annual salary for each E-7 sub-type every year. For 2026, Ministry of Justice notice 2025-406 applies from February 1 to December 31, 2026: E-7-1 professionals need at least ₩31.12 million a year, E-7-2 semi-professionals and E-7-3 general skilled workers at least ₩25.89 million, and E-7-4 skilled workers at least ₩26 million.
Which salary counts?
The figure is the annual salary in your employment contract, before tax. Immigration usually compares it with the requirement when you apply for a visa, change your status to E-7 or extend your stay. Some occupations have their own rule set by the Ministry of Justice, and the requirement may be eased for some small and venture companies outside the capital area, so check the current manual for your job code.
When does the requirement change?
The requirement is announced each December and normally starts on February 1 of the next year. Contracts signed close to the change date should be checked against the rule in force on your application date.
